Tonight, all quiet on the Western Springs front.  Bought Chas a bike for his graduation, boy bikes can be pricey!  We found a reasonable priced one for him and he rode it home.  Farmer's market day in WS and I love it.  The cheesemongers blue cheese tastes great on the raisin almond flatbread.  yum.

a big night

tonight was charlie's graduation, a great event.  phil showed up, a surprise to me but apparently charlie and emmy knew.  he saw charlie in  the graduation line before the event and left right after.  emmy crawled into my bed sobbing because he didn't wait to see her.  inconsolable.  damn.  i am so glad i have these kids (young adults, really) but so cross that they have to deal with that jerk as their dad.

and then emmy said she thinks my parents have a better relationship with anne than with she.  i don't think that's true, but acknowledging her feelings i know we can shore up that during this summer when tripp, anne, and charlie are gone and em and i can have some nonnie and papa time alone.

tripp is already off and anne leaves tomorrow.  i know the goal of parenting is to have strong, self-sufficient competent adults, but really ... do they have to leave???
